Eroded Balance

Some places are remembered not for what they contain, but for what remains.

Eroded Balance emerged from an ongoing fascination with surfaces marked by time—ancient walls, weathered facades, forgotten structures, and the silent geometry hidden beneath decades of transformation. These traces form a kind of visual archaeology, revealing stories that cannot be told through representation alone.

Rather than depicting a specific landscape, the painting explores the fragile equilibrium between permanence and change. Fragments of structure appear and dissolve, suggesting the passage of time through subtle shifts in matter, rhythm, and surface.

Influenced by the architectural heritage of Barcelona and the quiet sensibility of wabi-sabi, the work embraces irregularity, erosion, and imperfection as essential elements of beauty. Every mark becomes part of a larger narrative, where memory is embedded in material and absence becomes as meaningful as presence.

The painting invites slow observation. Its layers unfold gradually, revealing echoes of forgotten places, urban traces, and the poetry of surfaces shaped by time. What remains is not a description of a place, but the feeling of having encountered one.
