Rust Geometry
Year 2018 · 40 × 40 × 3.5 cm · Mixed Media on Canvas
Rust has always fascinated me.
Not as a sign of deterioration, but as evidence of transformation. A surface that changes, evolves, and develops its own visual language through time.
This work explores the rich textures, colors, and irregular formations found on weathered industrial surfaces. Layers of oxidized orange, deep browns, and subtle verdigris tones interact across the composition, creating an atmosphere inspired by aged steel, industrial architecture, and corroded metal.
The geometric structure partially visible beneath the surface introduces a dialogue between order and decay. Straight lines and architectural forms remain present, yet they are gradually overtaken by texture, oxidation, and material growth. The result is a balance between construction and erosion, precision and unpredictability.
Built through multiple layers and highly textured surfaces, the painting invites close observation. Every crack, relief, and oxidized detail contributes to a tactile landscape where the material itself becomes the subject.
Rather than imitating rust, the work celebrates its visual complexity. The surface evokes industrial walls, abandoned structures, weathered steel, and the remarkable beauty found in materials transformed by time.
For collectors drawn to industrial art, textured abstract painting, and contemporary material-based works, this piece embodies the raw aesthetic of oxidation and the enduring appeal of weathered surfaces.
