Private One-to-One Mixed Media Workshops in Barcelona | Sergio Aranda

PRIVATE ART WORKSHOPS IN BARCELONA

Learn. Experiment. Create.

Join me in Barcelona for a private artistic experience dedicated to contemporary painting, mixed media and experimental materials.

My workshops are not based on a single fixed programme. They are designed for people with very different interests and levels — from complete beginners who simply want to experience the pleasure of creating, to practising artists looking to explore new materials, techniques or directions in their own work.

Choose the experience that best suits you.

01 — PRIVATE TECHNIQUE WORKSHOPS

Explore a material. Discover a process. Take it further.

Choose a focused workshop dedicated to the techniques and materials you are most interested in.

Depending on the subject, sessions can be organised in different formats and durations — from a focused introduction to a more intensive day of experimentation.

Possible workshops include:

  • Texture & Relief — modelling pastes, marble dust, sand, sawdust and unconventional materials
  • Rust & Oxidation — real oxidation, rust effects, patinas and aged surfaces
  • Collage & Layers — paper, image transfer, transparent layers and mixed-media construction
  • Crackle & Patina — aged surfaces, erosion, imperfections and the beauty of time
  • Pigments & Experimental Colour — mineral pigments, inks, acrylics and unconventional applications
  • Composition & Contemporary Abstraction — balance, tension, rhythm, colour and visual structure
  • Finishing & Varnishing — bringing a mixed-media work to a professional finish
  • Developing Your Artistic Language — moving beyond technique toward a more personal and recognisable body of work

You can concentrate on one specific medium or combine several techniques according to the time available and what you would like to learn.

Different durations available.
Private one-to-one format.
Materials included.

Contact me and tell me what you would like to explore, and I will suggest the most appropriate format.

02 — CREATE YOUR OWN ARTWORK WITH ME

From a blank surface to a finished piece.

This is not simply a class. It is a creative experience in which we develop an original artwork together, step by step.

We begin by discussing what attracts you — colours, textures, atmosphere, composition and materials — and then transform those ideas into a finished mixed-media artwork.

I will guide you through the creative decisions, techniques and materials while leaving space for your own intuition and personality.

No previous artistic experience is necessary.

The objective is not to reproduce one of my paintings, but to help you create a work that belongs to you, while experiencing how a contemporary artwork develops from the first idea to the final surface.

At the end of the experience, the artwork you create is yours to take home.

This option is ideal for anyone looking for a memorable creative experience in Barcelona, whether you are an artist or have never painted before.

03 — PRIVATE ARTIST MENTORING

Go beyond technique.

For artists who already have a practice and want more individual guidance, I also offer private mentoring sessions.

Rather than following a predetermined workshop, we work directly from your own artwork, questions and objectives.

Before the session, I may ask you to send photographs of your recent work so that we can use our time together effectively.

We can explore areas such as composition, materials, coherence within a body of work, developing a personal visual language, overcoming creative blocks, selecting and refining works, or simply looking at your practice from another artist's perspective.

These sessions can include practical studio work, discussion and portfolio review depending on what you need.

A PRIVATE EXPERIENCE IN BARCELONA

All private workshops take place in my creative space in Barcelona's historic El Born district, inside a building dating from 1645.

Working one-to-one gives us something that is difficult to achieve in a conventional art class: time.

Time to experiment.
Time to ask questions.
Time to make mistakes.
Time to understand why something works.
And time to follow an unexpected idea when something interesting happens.

Sessions can range from focused workshops of a few hours to full-day experiences of approximately 7 hours, depending on the subject and your objectives.

Materials are included.

Workshops are available throughout the year by appointment and can be offered in English, French, Spanish or Catalan.

GROUP WORKSHOPS & INTENSIVE COURSES

At selected times throughout the year, I also organise workshops dedicated to a particular material, technique or creative subject.

These sessions offer the opportunity to work in a small group, experiment with new approaches and exchange ideas with other artists.

I also plan special intensive courses, including longer multi-day or one-week experiences, allowing us to explore mixed media much more deeply — painting, experimenting, discussing work and developing ideas without the limitations of a single-day workshop.

Dates, subjects and formats vary throughout the year.

If you are interested in a group workshop or intensive course, contact me and I will be happy to send you information about upcoming possibilities.

NOT SURE WHICH WORKSHOP IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

You don't need to decide before contacting me.

Simply tell me a little about yourself:

Are you a beginner or already an artist? What would you like to learn? Which materials or techniques interest you? How much time will you have in Barcelona?

If you already paint, you are also welcome to send me a few photographs of your work.

From there, I can recommend the workshop, duration and approach that would be most useful for you.

CONTINUE LEARNING ONLINE

If you cannot travel to Barcelona — or would like to continue experimenting afterwards — you can also join my Patreon community.

There you will find complete tutorials, experimental techniques, mixed-media projects and ongoing access to my educational content.

Many students use Patreon before or after coming to Barcelona to continue developing their practice.
