Industrial Remains
Industrial Remains is an original textured abstract mixed media and collage painting by contemporary artist Sergio Aranda, created in 2021.
Built through multiple layers of texture, collage, paint and distressed surfaces, the work evokes the remains of an industrial wall transformed by time. Pale mineral tones dominate the composition, interrupted by fragments of turquoise, deep blue, rust and earthy orange that emerge through the surface like traces of earlier structures.
The painting is constructed rather than simply painted. Areas of pronounced relief, embedded collage and irregular marks create a tactile surface reminiscent of weathered architecture, eroded concrete and urban walls carrying the evidence of successive transformations.
Much of the original color has been partially concealed beneath lighter layers. Small fragments remain exposed, allowing glimpses of what came before and creating a visual history within the painting itself.
Rust-like marks and warm oxidized tones contrast with cooler mineral blues and whites, while vertical drips and fractured horizontal structures introduce a sense of architecture gradually being altered by time.
The collage elements become almost indistinguishable from the painted surface, appearing embedded within the work like remnants of an unknown structure.
Industrial Remains explores one of the central ideas in Sergio Aranda’s work: that materials can retain the memory of transformation. What is covered never completely disappears; it survives through fragments, scars, relief and traces.
At 100 × 80 cm, the work has a substantial physical presence, while its textured surface reveals new details as the viewer moves closer.
This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original artwork, not a print or reproduction.

Art Care & Preservation
Art Care & Preservation
- Display & Lighting: While the archival varnish provides high-end UV protection, we highly recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to direct, harsh sunlight. To fully appreciate the shifting shadows of the sculptural gesso, display the piece under high-quality ambient lighting or dedicated LED art spotlights.
- Dusting & Cleaning: Due to the rich, sand-crusted organic texture, dust may settle over time. Never use water, liquid cleaners, damp cloths, or chemical solvents on the surface. To clean, gently sweep the textured relief using a dry, clean, soft-bristled brush (such as a premium makeup brush or a soft hake paintbrush).
- Humidity & Temperature: Fine art canvases thrive in stable environments. Display your painting in spaces with controlled humidity and temperature. Avoid hanging the artwork directly above heavy heat sources (like active fireplaces or radiators) or in high-moisture rooms like small, unventilated bathrooms.
- Handling: When moving or hanging your artwork, always hold it securely by the wooden stretcher bar edges. Avoid pressing directly against the center of the canvas to protect the structural tension and the delicate, raised mineral reliefs.
