A Memory That Refuses to Disappear
Bare Memory is an original mixed media painting inspired by the silent traces that time leaves behind. Rather than depicting an object or a place, the composition suggests the presence of something once familiar—an architectural fragment, an ancient wall, or the fading silhouette of a forgotten figure slowly dissolving into history.
Large fields of soft white and warm mineral tones create a remarkable sense of stillness, interrupted only by a dramatic band of deep black relief that crowns the composition. Beneath it, subtle geometric lines, weathered surfaces, and delicate traces emerge almost imperceptibly, inviting the viewer to discover what lies hidden beneath the layers.
Built Like an Ancient Wall
Created through numerous layers of mixed media, the painting combines acrylics, structured gesso, natural sawdust, mineral pigments, and collage to create a surface that feels excavated rather than painted. Every layer has been partially concealed, sanded, revealed, and reworked, allowing fragments of previous marks to remain visible like archaeological discoveries.
The thick black relief introduces a powerful architectural weight that contrasts beautifully with the calm openness below, creating tension between solidity and emptiness, presence and absence.
The Beauty of What Remains
Rather than celebrating perfection, Bare Memory embraces erosion, silence, and incompleteness. Its restrained palette of black, ivory, warm whites, and subtle earth tones reflects the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, where beauty emerges naturally through age, transformation, and imperfection.
As daylight moves across the textured surface, shadows reveal new details and hidden reliefs, making the painting feel alive throughout the day.
Elegant, contemplative, and deeply architectural, this one-of-a-kind artwork is perfectly suited for minimalist, contemporary, Japandi, Wabi-Sabi, Scandinavian, and luxury interiors, where materiality and quiet sophistication become the true focus.

Art Care & Preservation
Art Care & Preservation
- Display & Lighting: While the archival varnish provides high-end UV protection, we highly recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to direct, harsh sunlight. To fully appreciate the shifting shadows of the sculptural gesso, display the piece under high-quality ambient lighting or dedicated LED art spotlights.
- Dusting & Cleaning: Due to the rich, sand-crusted organic texture, dust may settle over time. Never use water, liquid cleaners, damp cloths, or chemical solvents on the surface. To clean, gently sweep the textured relief using a dry, clean, soft-bristled brush (such as a premium makeup brush or a soft hake paintbrush).
- Humidity & Temperature: Fine art canvases thrive in stable environments. Display your painting in spaces with controlled humidity and temperature. Avoid hanging the artwork directly above heavy heat sources (like active fireplaces or radiators) or in high-moisture rooms like small, unventilated bathrooms.
- Handling: When moving or hanging your artwork, always hold it securely by the wooden stretcher bar edges. Avoid pressing directly against the center of the canvas to protect the structural tension and the delicate, raised mineral reliefs.
